Ispat Iscor has signed a multimillion-rand, three-year network outsourcing contract with Dimension Data, the steel producer announced in a statement on Monday.
Dimension Data will provide an outsourced network management solution to 19 sites across South Africa. Through its managed enterprise network (MEN) service offering, Dimension Data will assume the responsibility of managing, operating and optimising Ispat Iscor’s wide-area network infrastructure.
“Outsourcing the day-to-day management of the enterprise network to a specialist third party frees Ispat Iscor from the expense and effort of managing its own network environment,” said Jeff Jack, technology marketing manager for Dimension Data’s Network Solutions division.
Dimension Data will provide Ispat Iscor with a suite of professional and operational services based on its global services operating architecture.
This includes consulting and assessment services, real-time service-level governed management and monitoring as well as telecommunication management.
“We turned to Dimension Data in an effort to reduce our overall wide-area network costs. Dimension Data’s MEN service offering, skills and expertise provides us with a solution that allows us to focus on our core business processes,” said Miguel Ferreira, senior network architect at Ispat Iscor.
MEN is a service offering managed by Dimension Data Network Solutions. It operates network infrastructure, performs regular health checks, provides feedback and optimises network environments on customers’ behalf.
