The Springboks insisted on Tuesday that they are taking their November match against Wales seriously despite not planning to arrive in Britain until three days before the Millennium Stadium clash.
The tight schedule means the South Africans will only have two training sessions before facing Mike Ruddock’s men in the opening game of their European tour on November 6.
Coach Jake White said his Tri-Nations champions aren’t complacent about the challenge despite crushing Wales 53-18 in Pretoria in June.
”I know there are people who believe we should be there to acclimatise at least a week before the Test, but I believe that three days will be enough,” White told the Western Mail newspaper.
”We will only fly to Britain on November 2 for the Test against Wales on November 6. We don’t want to make the tour any longer by flying earlier.
”I also think we will be able to have a better training session in South Africa because it will be wet overseas.” – Sapa-AFP
