JSE drifts weaker, but golds bounce

The JSE Securities Exchange headed south at the opening on Thursday, led by heavyweight dual-listed stocks. However gold stocks bounced after being sold down sharply on Wednesday. By 9,15am, the all share index was off 0,36%. Industrials eased 0,22%.

Resources retreated 0,68% and the platinum mining index lost 0,27%, but the gold mining index gained 0,9%. Financials were flat (-0,06%), while the banks index was 0,19% better.

The rand was quoted at 6,57 per dollar from 6,62 when the JSE closed on Wednesday, while gold was quoted at $415,60 an ounce from $412,15/oz at the JSE’s last close. – I-Net Bridge
