Prince Harry has apologised to his father Prince Charles over a nightclub scuffle which left a press photographer with a cut lip after the prince threw a punch, London’s Evening Standard newspaper reported Friday.
Quoting an unnamed security source, the paper said that 20-year-old Harry was ”extremely sorry” for his behaviour outside a London nightclub in the early hours of Thursday, when he was involved in an altercation with a photographer who attempted to snap him as he left the club.
”Harry is contrite about the whole thing. He is extremely disappointed that he allowed himself to be provoked in this way. There have been a number of conversations at the highest level and there is a determination that something like this does not occur again,” said a senior police source.
Spokespersons for the palace are claiming Prince Harry was struck first, while the photographer, Chris Uncle, says he was assaulted by the prince.
The paper quoted a senior palace aide as saying: ”Irrespective of who struck who first…the images of a member of the royal family being involved in an ugly altercation like this are extremely unhelpful.”
”It would be fair to say that there is the sense here that the sooner Prince Harry is under the umbrella of the armed services and starts at Sandhurst the better.”
