A senior Greek prosecutor on Tuesday postponed announcing the results of a two-month investigation into disgraced Greek sprinters Kostas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou.
The pair withdrew from the Athens Olympics after missing a doping test and being involved in a suspicious motorcycle accident on the eve of the August 13 to 29 Games.
They could face misdemeanour charges for obstructing a doping test and making false statements after being hospitalized, judicial sources said.
But chief prosecutor Dimitris Papangelopoulos delayed the announced until Monday, angered by a leak to a private television station.
Kenteris and Thanou missed the test when they disappeared for several hours after checking into the Olympic Village. The scandal marred the homecoming of the Olympics.
Their coach, Christos Tsekos, could also face misdemeanour charges, along with doctors at a state hospital who treated the sprinters, the sources said.
Kenteris (31) won gold in the 200m at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, while Thanou (29) won silver in the 100m.
Both runners, who spent four days in hospital, and Tsekos have denied the allegations made against them. — Sapa-AP
