Santos undone by Dynamos

A brace of goals in the space of two minutes by Sandile Ndlovu gave Dynamos their second win of the season when they beat Santos 3-1 at the Greenpoint stadium on Wednesday night.

Dynamos, who controlled the first half, were outplayed in the second half but poor passing and feeble shooting at goal cost Santos three points.

In the 90th minute, Ndlovu completed his hat trick when he appeared to be offside but ran on to score. He shot straight at Ryan Wuerst who allowed the ball to go in under his body.

Santos took the lead in the third minute when Jean Marc Ithier headed the ball down to Ruben Cloete who, from 10-metres, blasted the ball high into the net. Two minutes later Gugu Mchabela’s 25-metre drive was well saved by Wuerst.

The visitors levelled the score in the 21st minute when Ndlovu sent in a low screaming shot that went in close to the right upright. Two minutes later a cross from the left was missed by the defenders and Ndlovu rose high to head the ball into the net to give his side the lead.

The visitors found the smaller field to their liking and were much faster than the Santos players. Dynamos were hungry for a win.

Marawaan Bantam’s 25-metre drive in the 47th minute was turned around the corner by a diving Abram Khwenenyane. In the 57th minute Khwenenyane did well to turn a piledriver from Ithier over the bar. – Sapa
