Narrow victory for Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns narrowly beat Silver Stars 1-0 in a Castle Premier League encounter played at the HM Pitje Stadium in Mamelodi on Sunday.

The Brazilians secured this important victory via Thabiso Rammile’s first-half goal from close range after the visitors failed to clear the danger in the box.

But midfielder Josta Dladla forced a good save from Silver Stars goalkeeper Gareth Ormshaw. The ‘keeper parried the ball on to the path of Peter Ndlovu, who sent a long pass to Siaka Tiene and the left-footed midfielder fed Rammile to blast home.

Both teams missed opportunities in the game, but it was Silver Stars who enjoyed most of them — especially in the later stages of the game.

They managed to break the Sundowns defence but lacked composure when it mattered most. — Sapa
