Bucks, Stars share the spoils

Bush Bucks and Silver Stars shared the spoils when they drew 1-1 in a scrappy Premier Soccer League match played at Absa Stadium in East London on Wednesday night.

Bucks led 1-0 at the break.

Stars had been behind for much of the contest but a goal in the dying minutes from December Ngobeni levelled matters.

Bucks opened the score in the third minute through Jonathan Armogam after he collected a defence-splitting pass from Agent Sawu.

Stars came close to an equaliser in the 11th minute when Francis Kombe hit a fierce shot but Bucks goalkeeper Tampungu Dikete pulled off a stunning save.

The home team managed to hold on to their slim lead until the half-time break, which saw few chances at either end.

The second half did not go much better as both defences held their own against the attacking forays of the respective strikers.

In the 71st minute, Bucks were saved by the upright after a 30m drive by December Ngobeni had Dikete well beaten.

But Stars managed to steal a point when Ngobeni, who was a constant thorn in the Bucks’ flesh, connected with a header from a cross by Lynch Pule in the 89th minute. — Sapa
