A mystery bug has paralysed remote-control devices for opening car doors, garages and gates in a district of the town of Aosta in northern Italy, an environmental protection agency said on Friday.
The agency, Arpa, admitted it has as yet no idea what the problem is.
Tests on local electro-magnetic fields have registered nothing abnormal and domestic alarm systems are working normally, it said.
Arpa said it is conducting tests comparing signals emitted by the remote-control devices in the affected district and those in other parts of town.
Meanwhile, local residents have been obliged since Thursday to fish for their keys to open or lock their cars and garage doors and the gates to their villas. — AFP
