Right-arm swing bowler Charl Langeveldt has been released from the South African squad for the next three matches in the Standard Bank one-day international series against England.
Langeveldt broke a bone in his left hand during the third Test at Newlands on January 3. He has made good progress and has no problem bowling, but he is still having difficulty batting.
Selection convener Haroon Lorgat said: ”Charl is not yet able to bat with confidence and we felt it would not serve any purpose at this stage to have him travel with the squad when he is not going to play.
”His inclusion in the squad for the remainder of the series will depend on the outcome of a scan he will have later this week.”
He will not be replaced in the squad.
The South African squad arrived in Bloemfontein at midday on Monday to prepare for the second match on Wednesday. — Sapa
