Mamelodi Sundowns beat Bloemfontein Celtic 3-1 in an entertaining Castle Premier League clash played at Loftus on Saturday night.
Sundowns created the first clear-cut attack of the game in the opening minutes when Siaka Tiene had his shot parried to safety by suspect Celtic goalkeeper Simon Gopane.
Gopane was beaten in the seventh minute by midfielder Godfrey Sapula, who buried a cross sent in by the impressive Tiene.
Sundowns increased their lead in the 40th minute when defender Sashi Chalwe headed home Tiene’s corner kick, as the Celtic defence was caught ball-watching.
Sundowns secured the valuable home three points in the 50th minute, when Tiene blasted the ball past Gopane after beating one Celtic defender in the box.
Celtic got a scant consolation goal in the 52nd minute when Fees Moloi beat goalkeeper Andre Arendse with a long-range shot. — Sapa
