Five-year-old girl raped, murdered in Limpopo

A five-year-old old girl was raped, murdered and her body tossed into a donga outside Matengteng, in Bushbuckridge in the Limpopo province, Mopani police said on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Superintendent Moatshe Ngoepe said the child went missing on February 7 after being taken from her mother, who was visiting friends, by a neighbour who promised to drop her off at home. Neither the girl nor the neighbour was seen again.

The child was reported missing that night and a manhunt, involving the police and community, was launched. Her body was discovered on Wednesday.

Ngoepe appealed to anyone able to assist the police with information about the incident to call Crime Stop on 08600-10111. He also asked a Noah Ngondo (36) to get in touch with the police. – Sapa
