Prosecutor-turned-businessman Bulelani Ngcuka is to chair the new-look board of Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront Holdings Company.
Derick van der Merwe, MD of subsidary Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, said the holdings board has been reshaped to reflect changes to the Transnet board last year.
Ngcuka was one of three members appointed to the 11-person board by Transnet.
Van der Merwe said the V&A Waterfront receives more than 22-million visitors a year and has become a tourism landmark in South Africa ”and indeed globally”.
The announcement comes as the City of Cape Town and the Waterfront head for the High Court on Thursday to resolve a dispute over a stalled R1-billion in developments planned for the Waterfront.
The city says the Waterfront is following incorrect approval procedures. — Sapa
