Radio station in trouble for creamy prank

A Danish commercial radio station is under fire for organising a prank encouraging listeners to squelch cream cakes on staff at a bakery, reports said on Wednesday.

The Voice offered listeners 10 000 kroner (about R10 000) if they went to a bakery, bought a cream cake and dumped it on the head of the salesperson.

A 32-year-old did just that, and is now charged with assault.

The salesperson said she was shocked by the attack.

”I thought, ‘What was the purpose of it?”’ Dilek Danismaz told Danish news agency Ritzau.

”He had a mobile telephone in his hand and wanted me to talk to someone. He yelled that he had just won 10 000 kroner, smiled and left,” Danismaz said.

She added she feared the attacker would reappear.

Her boss, Linda Bosse, who owns the bakery in central Copenhagen, was also angered at the prank.

”What next — knock down a lady and collect 25 000 kroner?” she asked.

Several of the employees at the radio station also risk charges for incitement. — Sapa-DPA
