A working dog so faithful that he spent almost a week with his dead owner’s body will be put down and buried with his master, animal welfare group RSPCA said on Monday.
”Euthanasing him is the best thing to do,” said RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Michael Beatty. ”He was basically totally a one-person dog, plus he’s old, a bit sick anyway, and he’s just miserable the way he is at the moment.”
Jess, a 12-year-old cattle dog, will be cremated and interred with the body of owner Neville Greenwood.
Jess stayed with the 74-year-old Brisbane man after he died in his Brisbane home. ”It is sad. He just stayed by his master’s body, we still don’t know exactly how long, but at least five days,” Beatty said. – Sapa-DPA
