Stars hammer Rangers

Silver Stars hammered struggling Manning Rangers 4-1 in their Premier Soccer League match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

There was no score at half-time.

Stars took control from the first whistle but failed to find a way past Rangers goalkeeper Chad Harper in the first stanza.

However, Stars continued their attacking ways in the second half and it came as no surprise when striker Koketso Mmotong opened the scoring in the 48th minute. He beat Harper hands down.

A few minutes later, Stars were awarded again when fellow striker Katlego Mashego increased the tally to two.

Stars were now on a roll and it was the turn of midfielder Michael Kgalie to get on the score sheet when he dribbled past a stagnant Rangers defence and made no mistake. If that was not enough, Mmotong completed his brace with a cracker shot and made sure that his team collected the three maximum points.

Rangers did manage a consolation goal via the boot of Grant Igesund.

Rangers now slip deeper into the relegation zone with 25 points from 26 games and have only four games to dig themselves out.
