Santos, Wits in dull draw

Santos moved out of the relegation zone and occupy the 13th spot on the Premier Soccer League log after sharing the spoils with Wits University in their 0-0 draw on Wednesday night.

Santos were placed second from the bottom before the match.

Wits, who were the hosts of the unimpressive match in front of about 500 fans, remain 11th on the table. The Students have not scored a single goal during regulation time in their previous five outings.

Their draw against Santos was their 11th from 23 games in this current campaign, while the People’s Team have drawn only four times in 25 matches.

There was nothing serious to write home about in this game. The clubs huffed and puffed as they went through the motions throughout the 90 minutes.

However, defender Edries Burton gave his all, masterminding Santos’s rearguard. He saved face when he cleared a goal-bound attempt by Nkosana Qaba in the 82nd minute. — Sapa
