A magnificent 62 by Tyrone Henderson saw the Warriors clip the Eagles’ talons on Sunday when they beat the defending champions by four wickets in a Standard Bank Pro20 match in Bloemfontein.
The Warriors won the toss and sent the Eagles in to bat. The home side appeared to be heading for a big total, but the spin bowling of Pieter Strydom and Robin Petersen, who took two for 21 and two for 25 respectively, saw a dramatic middle-order crash, and the Eagles were restricted to 141 runs., with Johan Beukes contributing 49 and Davey Jacobs 40.
Chasing 142 to win, the visitors got home with five balls to spare.
Henderson’s 62 came off just 30 balls, and included six towering sixes.
Their victory means that the Warriors have secured a semifinal berth. — Sapa
