Relegation candidates Manning Rangers and Wits University shared the spoils when they played to a goalless draw in a Castle Premiership encounter at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday night.
The home side should have won this game in the first half, but were let down by their strikers, who squandered a number of goal-scoring opportunities.
Linos Chalwe and Thabiso Hlalele, who was later replaced by Reagan Stuart, were the main culprits.
Nevertheless, Wits should thank their goalkeeper, Wayne Roberts, who made a spectacular save after a powerful shot by Chalwe in the 22nd minute.
Isaac Mabotsa contributed by closing down Hlalele on the 25th minute.
In the 53rd minute, Roberts was again in the limelight when he stopped Edson Minga’s powerful strike at close range.
Wits also had their chances, the best opportunity coming in the 87th minute when Alois Bunjira’s header went wide with Rangers’ goalkeeper Chad Harpur well beaten. — Sapa
