Police were on Friday questioning the wife of slain Free State official Noby Ngombane.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Annelie Wrensch confirmed that Nokwanda Ngombane and two other women — believed to be her relatives — were taken in for questioning.
Police arrived at Nokwanda’s home in Hillsboro, Bloemfontein, at about 1pm. She left with police officers.
Wrensch said it is not known yet if Nokwanda is under arrest.
”The investigation team are questioning them [the three women]”, but there is no immediate indication the trio will appear in court soon, Wrensch said.
On Thursday, police said more arrests could be expected in the Ngombane case.
A brother and sister of Nokwanda appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. Bongani Mlambo (28) and Sephumle Booi (23) had been arrested earlier in the day.
Mlambo, an official at the provincial social-development department, faces a charge of murder and Booi, an employee at a clothing design business, faces a charge of accessory to murder after the fact.
They are to stay in custody until their next court appearance next Wednesday.
