The United Association of South Africa (Uasa) has accepted a revised wage-increase offer from gold mines, the union said.
”We are quite satisfied,” said Uasa official Tim Kruger.
The union accepted the offer after talks with the Chamber of Mines earlier in the day.
The National Union of Mineworkers and Solidarity embarked on a nationwide strike last week after failed wage negotiations.
The revised offer ended the five-day strike.
The wage deal includes:
wage increases of between 6% and 7% at the lowest job categories;
a wage increase in the second year of CPIX plus 1%, subject to a guaranteed increase of between 5,5% and 6%;
additional employer and employee contributions to the retirement fund; and
increases in the living-out allowances (housing subsidies) as part of a continuing ongoing process of removing the legacy of the hostel system.
