South Africa’s Annelize du Pisani has won a bronze medal in the singles event at the tenpin bowling Women’s World Championships held in Aalborg, Denmark.
Players from 40 countries, including Australia, China, Germany, France, the United States and the United Kingdom, took part in the championships, which ended with a medal ceremony and banquet on Saturday.
Bowlers competed in three events: singles, doubles and trios.
Du Pisani (20), from Pretoria, has been bowling for eight years and a member of the national team for two years.
She was one of six South African women competing at the tournament — another was her mother, Sonja.
The singles gold medal went to Malaysia’s Esther Cheah. China’s Zhang Yuhong was second.
In the all-event competition, the overall winner was Yu-Ling Wang (Chinese Taipei), followed by Lynda Barnes (United States) and Lai Kin Ngoh (Malaysia).
