Blue Bulls flanker forward Danie Rossouw will join the Springbok rugby squad on Tuesday in Dunedin after he received the call on Saturday night to replace his injured provincial teammate Pedrie Wannenburg.
Wannenburg returned home after he sustained an injury to his lower back during the Springbok’s penultimate training session before the Tri-Nations clash with the Wallabies, which the Boks won 22-19 at the Subiaco Oval in Perth.
The imposing Rossouw is the second player to be called-up over the past weekend to the Springbok camp.
Prop forward Lawrence Sephaka travelled with the national squad from Perth to Sydney on Wednesday after he was confirmed as replacement for Guthro Steenkamp. The latter sustained a fracture in his right hand and returned home on Sunday morning.
The Boks arrived at 8pm on Sunday night in Sydney and will depart at 9.10am for Dunedin. The expected time arrival in New Zealand is 2.30pm.
The Springboks will hold a press conference at 4.30pm.
”Both Danie and Lawrence were with us earlier in the season both are familiar with our set-up and our moves. They will add more cover to the side because we need to be at full-strength against the All Blacks,” said Jake White, the Springbok coach.
The Springbok team to face the All Blacks in their last 2005 Tri-Nations fixture will be announced at a press conference on Wednesday. – Sapa
