Teenager ‘sick and tired’ of being raped by father

A 15-year-old Ermelo girl was so sick and tired of being raped by her father that she went to the police after her fifth night on the kitchen floor with him, said police.

The 45-year-old man told the girl’s mother what he intended doing every time he raped the child, but threatened her with bodily harm if she tried to do anything about it, said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Captain Abie Khoabane on Thursday.

The man then forced his daughter to make up a bed on the kitchen floor, he said.

He did so on Tuesday night, dragged the schoolgirl on to it and repeatedly raped her until 5am the next morning.

Unable to take it any more, she went to the police after her ordeal, said Khoabane.

He said she is just one of a number of children who have started coming forward with tales of sexual abuse at the hands of loved ones since the police began an awareness programme in the area in July.

They are encouraging children to ”break the silence”.

Khoabane said the campaign was launched after a teacher raped his daughter, impregnating her.

In a separate incident involving a teenager, a 15-year-old girl was raped by a man near Thohoyandou on Wednesday night, said Limpopo police spokesperson Inspector Thivhulawi Tshilate.

He said the girl, from Tshakuma village, was waiting at a taxi rank in Sibasa when the man approached her, asking her to accompany him.

However, on reaching Sokontenda, the man dragged her into bushes, put his hand over her mouth, undressed her, trampled her to the ground and raped her.

He then took her back to the taxi rank where he left her after threatening her not to say anything about what had happened, said Tshilate. — Sapa
