Five people have been questioned for allegedly shooting footage for a pornographic film inside a cable car at the World Exposition, a showcase of technology under way in Japan, police said on Friday.
The five suspects, who include an actress, could get up to 30 days in jail or a fine of up to 10 000 yen ($91) for indecent exposure, police said.
”An actress exposed her upper body and an actor touched it inside a gondola in the one-minute scene,” said a police spokesperson in the central Aichi prefecture where the 21st century’s first World Exposition is taking place.
The scene was shot on the afternoon of May 2 but the case did not come to light until it was broadcast on a pay-per-view satellite channel as part of an hour-long late-night special on the exposition.
The Jiji Press news agency said the crew had intended to film a scene of sexual intercourse on the ground at the Expo but abandoned the plan because the site was swarming with visitors during the holiday period in early May.
Police said they questioned a 33-year-old TV programme producer, a 28-year-old director and a 31-year-old cameraman apart from the actor (39) and the actress (26). They all live in and around Tokyo.
Their names were withheld as the crime is considered a minor offence, the police official said.
The Expo 2005 has a theme of environmentally-friendly technology and features an array of robots and a frozen mammoth dug up in Siberia.
The six-month event, which has drawn a stream of foreign dignitaries, reached its target of 15-million visitors more than a month before it is due to end on September 25. – Sapa-AFP
