Waiting for the stars to come out

Be it Hollywood or Bollywood, movie stars are not known to be sticklers for punctuality.

But two Indian stars, John Abraham and Akshay Kumar, shooting a new film in Bombay, have found a way to motivate each other to get to the set on time each morning — they’ve started a running wager, The Times of India newspaper reported on Monday.

The way it works is that whoever shows up last has to pay the one who got their first, the Times said. The paper did not say how much money was exchanging hands each morning, or who was taking home the most cash.

But the Times reported that director Priyadarshan, who only uses one name, was overjoyed that his actors were showing up on time, helping him keep production costs under control because he doesn’t have to pay the crew while they wait for the stars. – Sapa-AP
