Man admits trying to hire hitman to kill girl his son raped

An Australian on Thursday admitted trying to hire a hitman to murder a teenage girl who had accused his son of rape.

The plan to murder the girl came unstuck when Chouaki Bou-Antoun asked an undercover police officer to carry out the hit.

Chouaki Bou-Antoun (50) pleaded guilty in the New South Wales District Court to soliciting the murder of the girl in December 2003, the Australian Associated Press reported.

His son, Khater Bou-Antoun, now 21, has already pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault on the then 16-year-old girl in the beachside suburb of Bondi in March 2003. He has also admitted soliciting to murder the same girl.

After being charged and refused bail over the rape, Khater Bou-Antoun told a jail mate that he wanted the girl killed and was prepared to pay Aus$23 000 ($17 690) to anyone who would carry out the deed, according to police tapes.

Chouaki Bou-Antoun will be sentenced on November 10. The son will be sentenced the same month. – AFP
