Japanese carmaker Nissan on Friday unveiled a car of the future which only goes forward — with a cabin able to revolve 360°, eliminating the need to reverse.
The three-seater electric concept car, nicknamed Pivo, will be put on display at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show to be held in Chiba, outside Tokyo, from October 22 to November 6, Nissan Motor company said in a statement.
Pivo, 2,7m long, is shaped like an egg on a skateboard.
The compact car can move at 80km per hour, powered by a compact, high-performance lithium-ion battery, resulting in zero emissions.
Its view monitor reduces blind spots by displaying the outside surroundings on screens mounted on the inside of the car’s pillars located on either side of the windshield, the statement said.
A dash-mounted infrared commander allows the driver to operate the navigation and stereo systems with simple finger movements without letting go of the steering wheel. – AFP
