Sex-crimes accused ‘pretended to be married’

Advocate Cezanne Visser pretended to be a married woman in order to gain supervision over two children who were later allegedly abused, the Pretoria High Court heard on Tuesday.

Social worker Annemarie Malan testified in the sex-crimes trial of Visser and Dirk Prinsloo that Visser had introduced herself as ”Mrs Prinsloo” when she visited a children’s home in January 2002.

She told Malan she and her husband were advocates with the means of making a contribution to the welfare of a disadvantaged child.

Visser and Prinsloo subsequently had two girls, one aged 11 and the other 15, placed in their care over weekends.

The couple are charged with soliciting the 15-year-old to commit indecent acts on different occasions and of indecently assaulting the younger girl.

The girls were identified for placement with the couple because they were pretty and Visser had indicated she could share some of her modelling experience, Malan said.

The couple, who have reportedly split up, arrived at court separately and sat several metres apart from each other in the dock.

Prinsloo faces 16 charges and Visser 15 related to alleged sex crimes committed with women and girls. — Sapa
