The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will formally serve an indictment on axed deputy president Jacob Zuma on Friday.
NPA spokesperson Makhosini Nkosi said an agreement will be made between Zuma’s lawyers and the authority on who will receive the papers.
He did not want to give further details.
So far, Zuma faces two charges of contravening the Corruption Act, brought after the conviction and sentencing of his former financial adviser Schabir Shaik on fraud and corruption charges.
Shaik is out on bail pending appeal.
The charges against Zuma relate to alleged bribery in exchange for protection during the country’s multimillion-rand arms deal.
He is expected in court on November 12 for a brief appearance.
Zuma’s trial will start in the Durban High Court on July 31 next year. — Sapa
