Ster-Kinekor, distributor agree on pricing

Ster-Kinekor on Friday said it has reached an agreement with Nu Metro Film Distribution over its new pricing strategy.

In terms of the agreement, more than half of Ster-Kinekor’s theatres will remain Junction sites, selling tickets from R14.

Six existing Junction cinemas will be converted into Classic cinemas, which means there will be 13 Classic cinemas in total.

”The agreement means that Ster-Kinekor will now show all movies at all its cinemas as originally intended when the new cinema pricing was launched seven months ago,” the movie-theatre group said in a statement.

The cinemas to be upgraded to Classic status from Friday are The Zone Rosebank, Fourways Mall, East Rand Mall, Kolonnade, Somerset and Long Beach.

Self-service terminals will be installed at more movie theatres, making it easier for movie-goers to buy tickets.

”The new terminals allow customers to make their own reservations in cinemas paying with either their ATM debit cards or credit cards.”

Ster-Kinekor Junction cinemas offer all movies from R14 with six shows daily, unreserved seating pre-booking through TicketLine, the group’s website, at the box office or via self-service terminals.

At Ster-Kinekor Classic cinemas, customers can reserve seating through current booking options. — Sapa
