Minister of Defence Mosiuoa Lekota has been discharged from hospital after his heart attack and will take some time off to rest, his spokesperson said on Thursday.
Minister of Intelligence Ronnie Kasrils will stand in for him until his return to work.
”Minister Lekota was discharged from hospital yesterday [Wednesday]. Due to tremendous improvement, the surgeon general made a determination that he go home,” Sam Mkhwanazi said.
”He is still threatening to do the Argus [cycle race] in February next year,” joked Mkhwanazi.
Lekota was rushed to a Cape Town hospital last Wednesday after a heart attack.
It is not yet known when he will return to work, but the surgeon general has recommended that Lekota take at least three weeks off to recover. — Sapa
