A pair of lucky turkeys will receive the traditional Thanksgiving pardon from President George Bush on the White House lawn on Tuesday and then fly — in style, mind you — to Disneyland.
Following the ceremony, the 15,75kg National Turkey and its alternate will be given a police escort to a Washington-area airport, placed in first-class airplane seats and be whisked off to sunny southern California.
They will be part of Disneyland’s holiday display and serve as honorary grand marshals for the theme park’s annual Thanksgiving-Day Parade on Thursday, according to the White House website.
Afterward, they will spend the rest of their lives at a Disneyland ranch.
