Santos registered their 12th draw of the season when they held SuperSport United to a 2-2 result after leading 1-0 at the interval in a Premier Soccer League match played at the Athlone Stadium on Wednesday night.
In the 2nd minute Mngomezulu Sipho’s hard drive was brilliantly saved by Santos goalkeeper Brenden Wardle. Santos then took the lead four minutes later when Namibian international Dipsey Selolwane moved smartly down the right, cut in and saw his shot deflected by defender Phil Evans into the goal.
Selolwane was unlucky in 37th minute when his powerful drive was blocked by Peter Khobane.
The visitors levelled the scores in the 55th minute when Wardle failed to hold on to a hard shot by Tony Tsabedze and the ball fell free to Sipho and he stabbed the ball home.
United were now doing most of the attacking, but just could not score.
Santos regained the lead in the 85th minute when substitute Romano Scott rounded Calvin Marlin to score.
But a minute later the visitors were on level terms again when a poor clearance from Santos’s defence saw Abram Raselemane easily net for a share of the points. – Sapa
