KwaZulu-Natal health MEC Peggy Nkonyeni’s son Monde died in a car crash near the Port Shepstone toll plaza on Tuesday, her office said.
Monde Nkonyeni (16) was travelling to school with his siblings Steve and Sithabile when their car collided with a van.
Monde was airlifted to a KwaZulu-Natal hospital where he died, said Nkonyeni’s spokesperson Mbali Thusi.
Steve was admitted to the Port Shepstone hospital and Sithabile to the Hibiscus hospital, in Port Shepstone. ”They are both in a stable condition,” Thusi said.
Monde was Nkonyeni’s second son and the MEC’s second child to die tragically.
Her daughter died violently in the 1990s at the height of KwaZulu-Natal’s political killings. – Sapa
