Journalist Lynda Loxton dies

Journalist Lynda Loxton, parliamentary correspondent for Business Report, died in a Cape Town hospital on Wednesday evening.

Business Report editor Alide Dasnois said Loxton had been in a coma for several weeks, following an accident boarding a suburban train in the city last month.

She said Loxton, in her fifties, had covered Parliament for Business Report since the publication was launched ten years ago.

Loxton was highly skilled and an excellent reporter, Dasnois said.

”She had very, very high ethical standards as a journalist and as a human being.

”She was incredibly hard-working, and she had a real sense of hope about South Africa.

”She made an important contribution to documenting, analysing and commenting on the first ten critical years of this country’s economic transformation.

”And she also had a great sense of humour.” – Sapa
