A DVD purporting to show a married KwaZulu-Natal politician in a compromising position with an attractive young woman has reared its head, the Daily News reported on Friday.
Its website said the DVD is being widely distributed in certain areas of the province.
The recording is pushed through residents’ personal post boxes, handed out at some taxi ranks and even exchanged among pupils at some high schools.
The Daily News said it is in possession of a copy of the DVD, which shows an attractive young woman and a man in passionate embraces.
The filming is not very professional and shows the couple in several scenes of a sexual nature.
The DVD is also of poor quality and at some angles the faces of the two people are difficult to identify with absolute clarity.
However, in some scenes, the man in the film bears a striking resemblance to a prominent Inkatha Freedom Party politician.
When the Daily News contacted the politician, he said he could not comment at this stage. He said he had not seen the DVD and therefore it would be ”inappropriate” of him to say anything.
It is known that the politician has laid a complaint with the police.
IFP provincial chairperson Mntomuhle Khawula expressed shock over the distribution of the DVD.
”It is highly inappropriate and unethical for people to distribute it. It’s something that affects people’s lives and their families,” he said. ”Even politicians have a right to their privacy.” — Sapa
