Springbok flyhalf Andre Pretorius marked his return to action with two conversions and a drop goal as the Lions drew 24-24 with Griquas in their Vodacom Cup match in Kimberley on Friday night.
This was Pretorius’s first match back following an ankle operation.
Both teams ran in three tries, with defending Vodacom Cup champions Griquas enjoying a slight advantage by leading 21-17 at the break.
In Friday’s other match, Pumas fullback Casper Steyn kicked his team to a 15-9 win over the Mighty Elephants in Port Elizabeth.
Steyn continued his prodigious form this season, slotting five penalties for the Pumas to guide them to victory while Michael Gallinetti kicked three penalties for the hosts in this tryless game. — Sapa
