Singer Kurt Darren attacked at home for second time

Well-known Afrikaans singer Kurt Darren was attacked and robbed for a second time in his Zwartkop, Centurion, home on Friday, Beeld newspaper reported on Saturday.

Darren woke up early on Friday morning to find four armed men in his bedroom. They threatened him and hit him repeatedly with their weapons. He sustained a bruised lip, has injured nerves in his left hand and bumps and grazes over his body. He was also kicked around.

Darren said the men demanded money and he gave them around R10 000. They ransacked his house and took several household items, as well as a .38 Special revolver, before fleeing.

Darren, who was tied up with cables, managed to activate a panic button and called for help. Police, the security company and his neighbours were on the scene ”within minutes”.

Darren was attacked for the first time in November 2003. He narrowly escaped death when one of the robbers’ firearm malfunctioned. — Sapa
