Paper told to apologise for using pictures of Goldin

Cape Town newspaper The Daily Voice must apologise for having used pictures of the naked bodies of slain actor Brett Goldin and fashion designer Richard Bloom, News24.com reported on Thursday.

It said the press ombudsman had reprimanded the paper and ordered it to publish an apology prominently on the front page.

The ruling stated: ”The ombudsman found that the photographs overstepped the boundaries of decency, were offensive, disrespectful of the dead men, and needlessly added to the trauma of their families and friends.”

The newspaper used the pictures on its front page on April 19, two days after the men were found in a field next to the off-ramp from the M5 freeway to Klipfontein road in Mowbray, Cape Town.

They were found lying on their stomachs, naked, each with a bullet wound to the back of the head.

Seven men have so far been arrested in connection with the murders. – Sapa
