The Automobile Association (AA) has warned that another fuel-price increase should be expected in September.
”With tensions in the Middle East and the approach of winter in the northern hemisphere, it is expected that crude oil prices will remain high for the months ahead,” said AA spokesperson Petro Kruger.
She said: ”The high international crude-oil price and the weakening of the rand against the United States dollar have resulted in an increase of 31c per litre in the price of all grades of petrol, while the wholesale price of diesel increased by 22c and 25c per litre respectively depending on the sulphur content.”
Since January 2006 the price of petrol (ULP95) has increased by R1,55 or 28% from R5,49 per litre to R7,04 per litre in August. — Sapa
