Former South Africa captain Mbulelo Mabizela has returned home to play for Mamelodi Sundowns after being released by Norwegian champions Valerenga, his new club announced on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old, who was South Africa’s youngest-ever captain, is the latest in a series of recent high-profile signings by champions Sundowns.
Mabizela, who spent a year at Valerenga, featured infrequently as they won the league title last season.
He was signed by English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in July 2004, scoring on his debut against Leicester City, but had his contract cancelled just over a year later because of a series of disciplinary problems.
