A journey through reality television

Zlatko Fabris, born in South Africa to Croatian parents, is better known to audiences who watched the reality TV show Big Brother as Zee. What started as a diary of his experience on the show has ended up as a book, The Last Diary Session (self-published; to order, contact [email protected]). The book presents a self-portrait of Fabris, his views and his adventures.

Describe yourself in a sentence.

A positive young man, tackling the rough waters of youth head-on.

Describe your book in a sentence.

A real-life, comical journey through the reality-TV experience.

Describe your ideal reader.

The seekers of more than just surface.

What was the originating idea for the book?

It was to put my experience down on paper to help get my mind around what had happened.

Describe the process of writ- ing and publishing the book (research, editing and so on). How long did it take?

What started out as a diary entry to recollect this experience turned into what we have today. So it was one of those unplanned outcomes. No editing, no cuts — as it was written. The book was sponsored by Fabz Estate.

Name some writers who have inspired you, and (briefly) tell us why or how.

Kahlil Gibran, for his deep philosophical style and different thinking. The writings of Albert Einstein, for his pure genius.

What are you reading at the moment?

Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah, by Richard Bach, also a different thinker.

Do you write by hand, or use a typewriter or computer?

By hand and computer.

Is there anything you wish to add?

I am no writer, but the Great Spirit brought me signs and placed things in my path that I could not ignore.
