Jo’burg experiences electricity blackout

Inner Johannesburg and its surrounding areas suffered an electricity blackout on Monday, Johannesburg City Power said.

Spokesperson Kgaladi Ncube said the blackout was traced back to a substation and that there was a problem with one of the transformers.

”Areas in the north and south-east of Johannesburg were affected.”

In some areas electricity was restored and City Power was still attending to other affected areas.

Areas affected included Wynberg, Athol, Lyndhurst, Norwood, Kyalami, Kensington, and Linksfield.

Other areas, like Sunninghill, Bramley, Sandringham and Bertrams had their power restored but were experiencing the problem again.

Ncube said City Power was investigating the problem with the transformer. — Sapa
