Free State minister faces charge after accident

Free State provincial minister for safety and security Playfair Morule is facing a charge of culpable homicide after a man was killed in a hit-and-run accident, Free State police confirmed on Monday.

”An incident of culpable homicide is being investigated,” said Superintendent Annelie Wrench.

Morule’s spokesperson, Zama Gcwili, also confirmed that the minister had been in an accident and that a man had lost his life.

However, Gcwili did not want to elaborate on the incident.

”The matter is under police investigation. We will react fully after the investigation.”

Wrench said no court date had been set yet.

The incident happened on Sunday morning on the N8 road near the Bloemfontein airport.

It was reported that three men were apparently walking beside the road when one of them was hit trying to cross the road. — Sapa
