Popcru marches in support of wage-increase demand

A small group of Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru) members marched to the Department of Transport in Pretoria on Friday demanding a larger wage increase.

The group of about 100 protesters, mostly employees of the Cross-Border Road and Transport Agency, wants Minister of Transport Jeff Radebe to intervene in a salary dispute they have with the parastatal.

The group is demanding a wage increase of 8,5%, while the agency already increased their wages by 5,5% in May.

Popcru spokesperson Boiki Tsedu said the group was offered 8,5% in December but the agency later withdrew the offer and implemented the 5,5% increase, claiming there was no more money. — Sapa
