Pirates thrashed by Asec Mimosa

Orlando Pirates were thrashed 4-0 by Asec Mimosa in their African Champions League match in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday.

Kickoff magazine reports that the Buccaneers were outplayed from the start, with the Ivorians going close in the first 15 minutes.

Asec went into the lead two minutes before the break when Vincent Die headed home from a corner.

Die doubled the lead in the 53rd minute in identical fashion, and Dacosta Akes Goore made it 3-0 five minutes later when he latched onto a rebound from Arthur Kokcou’s free kick.

Konan made it 4-0 in the final minute of the game after he beat the offside trap.

The Pirates loss has made their path to the semifinals much harder — they now have to beat Enyimba of Nigeria to have any chance of reaching the semifinals. – Sapa
