The African National Congress (ANC) has expressed deep sadness over the death of MP James Kati, a spokesperson said on Monday.
James Zamiwonga Kati, who became an MP in 1999, died on Friday after a long illness.
”The ANC dips its revolutionary banner in remembrance of his undying spirit and conveys its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and comrades,” said ANC Parliamentary spokesperson Moloto Mothapo.
At the time of his death, Kati was serving as a member of Parliament’s Water Affairs and Forestry Portfolio Committee as well as a member of the Chris Hani district municipality in the Eastern Cape.
”An ex-trade union activist and Umkhonto we Sizwe cadre, comrade Kati will be remembered for his selflessness, discipline and unconditional commitment to the course of the struggle,” said Mothapo. — Sapa
