Manto admitted to hospital with lung infection

Minister of Health Manto Tshabalala-Msimang has been admitted to hospital with a lung infection, her spokesperson said on Friday.

Sibani Mngadi said the minister had been admitted to Johannesburg Hospital on Thursday.

”She was not feeling well and was taken to hospital. They decided to admit her to do further tests and see if she is reacting to treatment,” he said.

He said she had chosen Johannesburg Hospital as she ”always prefers public hospitals” and had used the hospital a few times.

Tshabalala-Msimang was in a stable condition.

The Department of Health wished her a speedy recovery.

Tshabalala-Msimang is expected to stay in hospital at least until Saturday, her spokesman Sibani Mngadi said on Friday afternoon. — Sapa
