Jo’burg pupil stabbed to death

A grade 10 pupil was found stabbed to death on the sports fields of a Johannesburg school on Monday morning, said police.

The 19-year-old had been stabbed four times, said Captain Schalk Bornman.

His body was found at 7am by fellow pupils at Forest High School, in Forest Hill, southern Johannesburg.

”The boy was already dead when our paramedics arrived. He suffered a fatal wound in the neck,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman.

Initial information indicated that he was attacked during an argument with a 14-year-old grade eight pupil from the same school before the start of classes, said Bornman.

The 14-year-old ran away. Police were looking for him and hoped to make an arrest soon.

Both teenagers were from Soweto, he said.

The school could not be reached telephonically on Monday afternoon.

It is understood pupils and teachers were receiving trauma counselling. — Sapa
